Main Street Art's Festival in Ft. Worth

Another perfect spring day it turned out to be. A day custom made for an art's festival. David, Dylan, Cassidy, her boyfriend, Eric and I headed out on a road trip to Ft. Worth to enjoy a day of cool art and great music. As a complete surprise to Dylan, we were going to see a 17 year old, local guitar whiz, Hunter Hendrickson, who was featuring a special guest guitarist, Kenny Withrow. Kenny also happens to be Dylan's guitar teacher. Needless to say, Dylan was thrilled. David and I use to follow Kenny and his band, the New Bohemians, back in the 80's, before they achieved international acclaim. Now Kenny plays in a variety of great bands, such as Fever and the Funkhouse, Forgotten Space, a Grateful Dead tribute band and the Electro-Magnetics with Cricket Taylor. Hunter's also an amazing talent who reminded us a lot of Stevie Ray Vaughn and we will definitely be seeing him again. Dylan shot a little video clip of Hunter and Kenny to give you a taste of their music. Click on the You Tube link below. Mom, no offense, but you might want to skip this one, this is not your kind of music at all. =)

As soon as we got home from the festival we were ready to eat again and opted for an early dinner. David grilled up two beautiful racks of Kuby's special dry-rubbed baby-back ribs. David is truly the grill master. The ribs, as is usual, were delectable!

There's nothing better than chilling on our front porch with friends, family and of course our dog, Bailey and 1 or both of our cats. It's the perfect way to wrap up a fun spring day. We're out there most every evening while it's nice outside. We like to nosh on cheese, pate' and crackers, while the adults enjoy a nice, cold glass of white wine.

It was an early to bed because David and Dylan were planning on waking up in the wee hours Sunday morning to see the historical imploding of Texas Stadium scheduled for 6:30am. David kept trying to talk me into going, but after he kept mentioning we'd have to get up this much earlier due to traffic and crowds, etc...I had to respectfully decline. Many people traveled from out of state and even camped out for the event. I think this is more of a guy thing. David and Dylan had a wonderful time together just figuring out their plans and totally had the male-bonding thing working, which is so cool. It's also so typical, because David is such a fun Dad.
